Autism Therapy Frequently Asked Questions

How does in-home ABA therapy work?

A BCBA completes a thorough clinical evaluation in your home to outline individual goals. Upon authorization, an RBT provides 1:1 therapy sessions directly in your home under supervision.

Are your observations and therapy sessions conducted in-person or virtual?

At Behaviorbee, all of our therapy sessions and BCBA supervision visits are conducted 100% in-person. We do not conduct virtual therapy or remote observations. Our BCBAs and RBTs come directly to your home, school, or community setting to provide hands-on, face-to-face instruction, real-time feedback, and active engagement with your child.

How many hours of ABA therapy will my child need each week?

Recommended hours depend entirely on your child's initial clinical assessment. Comprehensive programs typically range from 15 to 35 hours per week. Our BCBAs will design a custom schedule tailored to your child’s needs and family routine.

Why does the intake process take 4 to 12 weeks?

This timeframe covers insurance authorization, detailed observational assessments, and pairing your family with the right clinical team for long-term consistency.

Do parents need to be home during therapy sessions?

Yes. An adult caregiver (parent, guardian, or designated family member) must be present in the home during sessions to ensure safety, support natural learning, and participate in ongoing parent coaching.

Can sessions take place in the evening or after school?

Yes. We offer flexible scheduling, including after-school and early evening hours, to accommodate school calendars (such as FCPS and PWCS) and working parents.

Can your therapists come into my child's school in Northern Virginia?

Yes, depending on individual school policies and district agreements (e.g., Fairfax County Public Schools, Prince William County Public Schools, or private academies). We regularly collaborate with teachers and special education teams to deliver consistent 1:1 behavioral support in academic settings.

Do you offer ABA therapy during school hours for homeschooled children?

Absolutely. Because we are a mobile service, we offer flexible daytime scheduling for homeschooled students and hybrid learners. We integrate therapy directly into your family's home-school routine to support focus, task completion, and behavioral regulation.
